    Example:
I convert a video and I start editing it. Everything is fine and playback is smooth, but once I have been using vegas for about 20 minutes.

The video becomes choppy during playback and the only way to fix this is to restart the pc. After restarting, the video is smooth once more for another 20 minutes.

I have 4GB of Dominator PC8500 DDR2 1066Mhz RAM and a Q6600 G0 Processor + an 896MB GTX 260 driving my GPU, so what gives? Is there some setting I need to set inside of vegas to fix this?

    Thanks

Convert it from what format to what format?
When I have similar issues, I found that dropping my preview RAM from a high level (1024 MB.) to a much lower level (128 MB.) clears everything up for me.
Also, make sure your project properties match your source media.

I just wanted to report in and say that this seemed to fix the 20 minute slowdown. I had it set at 2048MB, but after I set it to 128M all the slowdowns disappeared.
