Thanks John. How would I find who made the card. Would I have to go in the box again or is there anothe way to look it up?

Thanks Peter, I got it to work this way. My next question is the use of all of the other sets, slides and parameters of the FX. Confusing to say the least

I still have the same problem. There is something in the mix that I don’t understand. No matter what I try I get the effect at the start….

Easier said than done, John. I know what you are saying. Just that the crat got before the horse here so to speak. I’d love to go out and get a workstation of any kind. I never had a problem doing anything with this machine. I just had it apart to check the memory. It turns out to have 4 sticks of DDR2 6600 memory for the total to make 5120mb which would be 5 gigs. I pulled one and it was a 1 gig so at leat one has to be a 2G stick. I have to move some things to get to them all.

Anyway, I am going to add some memory and upgrade to the Windows 7. I’ll have to turn over the furniture and save my aluminum cans, but we’ll get there. Thanks for all your help, John. It is much appreciated.

That is the way the numbers are on the label. It ia a stock HP 8530f Pavilion media center. I never got in the box to change any configurations. I really have no problems with Vista, but it is time for an upgrade just to keep up. Windows 8 is right around the corner. I may just go and get the upgrade and see what shakes out.

Hi John, I upgraded to the 10c and the OFX 7.04. I’m still using Vista 64 bit. I have a AMD Phenom 4 Quad Core 9550 with a 9300GE Nvidia card. System memory is 5120 mb. The max memory available is only 3838mb I don’t know if it is capable of more, but I suspect this may be my problem. Every thing works fine until it gets a little involved and then it wants to quit. How would I find out if I can add more memory to the system.

I am gathering great information from your tutorials. I appreciate your efforts and really want to put it to practice.

Well, I reinstalled the program once again and got the texture presets to show up. However it has been crash and burn ever since. I did manage to finally get something renderered out. One issue was an open gl context thing. The FX didn’t happen, but the warning filled the space in the render.

I could not do anything with extruded text without getting the dreaded Vegas stopped working window. When I did get through a 10 second piece of text and fx it was going to take forever. The meter on the render time keep running until I finally kicked it out of gear.

I question my purchase of BCC 7 as a mistake at this point. I have 3600 mb of RAM dedicated to the program….Guess I need more.

That is what I did after thinking about it, Jeremy. The only thing I didn’t do was restart after uninstalling. All seems to be working fine now. Maybe I should go back and do it again? Thanks for your input.
