I had the same problems that ended with reformatting the computer awhile back. SCS has just recently found a fix of which I was just informed. Kind of late for me, but I hope it will help you. This from a Tech at Sony Creative Software:
Thank you for writing back. Please reinstall the software and if it still hangs follow these instructions:Click on Start or the circle Windows flag on the bottom left hand corner and in the search field, type msconfig and hit Enter on your keyboard. In this new window, click on the Services tab and scroll down until you find a service called Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0.
Uncheck the box to the left of this service, then click Apply and OK.
You computer may request that you restart. Please do so and then open up Vegas.
If you still have a follow-up question on this particular incident, please feel free to update it. If you have a completely different question, please create a new incident.
Good luck. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for the question, Paul and thanks Dirk, for the reply! There are a lot of questions that go along with using the BCC8 plug ins. I for one, find the video tutorial approach to answers a lot easier to understand than reading lengthy explanations.

That’s OK Nigel. The problem was a mystery to many who looked into it. The program would always run the first time after a restart, but fail to execute anytime after. Even if I ran other programs after start.
Anyway it is a bit of is a bear getting things back in order. Sorting out what I really need on the computer has me amazed at how much junk accumulates over time. The program list is much shorter now and it shows in the performance. I did lose some preset work, but nothing to be too over concerned with. Overall, it was probably the best thing to do for the machine.
overall it was probably the best thing I could have done

Go into View and reset Windows Layouts to default.

Thanks Gary. I’ll do that. I was going to do a system restore, but don’t really know when this actually started.

Yes John, it does appear in the processes tab of the task manager. On screen is the start up version/license plate box. It hangs at initializing external monitor. It loads one time after restart if I go there first right after. I am waiting on Sony to get to my support ticket. VP9 and 10 were reinstalled and they fire right up.

How would I see “invisible” instances of vegas110.exe running?
-
I did a complete uninstall and clean reinstall yet the program still reacts the same. Anyone have any suggestions.

I ran the registry tool in CCleaner after running chkdsk. It shows no problems. VP10 opens with no problems. I put a ticket into SC in hopes they might be able to help. As it is I can only run one instance of Vegas 11. Is there a procedure to uninstall and then get a clean install?

Thanks Jeffrey, I didn’t think you could.
