The final solution to my splash screen hanging problem was resolved by reformatting and reinstalling the OS and files to my system. I’d like to thank all who offered advice in trying to find a solution to this troubling ordeal.I guess we will never now what caused it and that it doesn’t show up again.

I am almost half afraid to install my other versions of Vegas but I might need to at some point. Thanks again to those that answered my call for help. I am disappointed in SCS for not getting back with me.

Well, hoping the problem doesn’t arise again for you.
I always have to have Task Manager at hand to kick start Vegas
    whenever it acts up….lol

That’s was a pretty drastic course of action. I am just wondering if you had firewall software that was blocking Vegas during its start up. One thing Vegas also does is run net notify or similar which informs you when new updates from Sony are available, unless you diable it in preferences. If that process was being blocked because your firewall perceived it as a threat, it may have been preventing Vegas from starting properly in the manner you described.

Sorry I missed your earlier post.

My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

That’s OK Nigel. The problem was a mystery to many who looked into it. The program would always run the first time after a restart, but fail to execute anytime after. Even if I ran other programs after start.

Anyway it is a bit of is a bear getting things back in order. Sorting out what I really need on the computer has me amazed at how much junk accumulates over time. The program list is much shorter now and it shows in the performance. I did lose some preset work, but nothing to be too over concerned with. Overall, it was probably the best thing to do for the machine.

overall it was probably the best thing I could have done
