VP11 Hanging at start.
Posted by Mike Hinkel on May 31, 2012 at 8:14 pmThings were fairly smooth until of late. The program wants to hang at start leaving me sit here and wait. Like waiting for a bus that never shows. I have to reboot the computer to get it to go again every time…
I close out of the program and when clicking it on again it gets to Initializing external monitor and here we sit. Anyone have a clue to what is happening here? I sure don’t. I tried uninstall and reinstall to no answer.

May 31, 2012 at 8:40 pmAssuming your running Windows, why don’t you try dowloading System mechanic. There is a free version, and its thirty dollars to buy the advanced version per year. I assume you have run Windows chkdisk?

June 1, 2012 at 7:23 amI ran the registry tool in CCleaner after running chkdsk. It shows no problems. VP10 opens with no problems. I put a ticket into SC in hopes they might be able to help. As it is I can only run one instance of Vegas 11. Is there a procedure to uninstall and then get a clean install?

June 3, 2012 at 4:41 amCheck the Task Manager Processes tab and if there any invisible instances of vegas110.exe running, terminate them.

June 3, 2012 at 2:28 pmOops, that did sound a bit contradictory! I mean that you may find vegas110.exe in the list of running processes on the Process tab of Task Manager, even though no Vegas windows are visible on the desktop.

June 3, 2012 at 3:29 pmYes John, it does appear in the processes tab of the task manager. On screen is the start up version/license plate box. It hangs at initializing external monitor. It loads one time after restart if I go there first right after. I am waiting on Sony to get to my support ticket. VP9 and 10 were reinstalled and they fire right up.

June 4, 2012 at 7:22 pmWhat OS are you running? If it is Windows 7 I would go to the Windows 7 forum, register, and pose your question there. They will ask you to post your systems specs using an automatic software. There is a huge amount of expertise there.

June 4, 2012 at 7:55 pmThanks Gary. I’ll do that. I was going to do a system restore, but don’t really know when this actually started.
