  • [Shane Ross] “ON the contrary…I think it shows how FCX integrates with the Hollywood workflow…something that will get the attention of the “elite” 2% of the FCP userbase.”

I was talking about the photo at the top of the article. Its shows a bunch of AVID products but no FCP, even though the article is about FCP…

Wow Apple needs to fire the person that did the layout for this article! The giant picture above the headline shows —— 2 AVID Pro Tools Rigs AND an AVID Euphonix Mixing Console —- and no FCP setups… The other screens are the Euphonix automation system.

Ok well there are two Apple cinema displays in the picture but they are for for the Pro Tools rigs! Seriously bad photo choice for an article about how FCPX oriented this facility is…

[Chris Kenny] ” the machine that has been proposed would have eight of them”

Is there any systematic data showing such an item is currently under design?

[Chris Kenny] ” If it’s really four Thunderbolt ports and two and PCIe slots, it’ll be fine. It’ll annoy some people, but it’ll fundamentally do everything a “pro” Mac needs to do.”

Except run Avid, a Red Rocket and Pro Tools HDX on the same box.

Or large Pro Tools HDX systems with extra process cards and third party cards like UAD…

Last time Apple tried to “define the paradigm” they pooped out FCPX and forced the bulk of their Pro customers to Avid and Adobe…

This is of course assuming there will even be a new Mac Pro. Magic 8 ball says “Signs point to no.”

[Andy Field] “The point wasn’t about Apple’s massive profits selling othe people’s stuff on iTunes. It was about taking a decade of customer good will and loyalty and tossing it in the trash and creating a product that can no longer meet the needs of a large part of an industry”

A lot of people on here treat apple like some girlfriend/boyfriend that cheated on them. Apple is not your friend or business partner. Unless you bought a service contract, after your point of sale (POS haha) purchase, they have made all the money off you they are going to make. In the end they created a cheaper product that they could sell more of which from a business standpoint was the right thing to do. Apple is a manufacturing business not a service business. They make money by shipping units.

September 4, 2012 at 8:04 pm in reply to: Audio crackling

In general corrupt audio files could cause crackling like random pops and clicks also referred to as dropouts. This happens when the errors are so large the error correction circuitry of the D-A converter runs out of material to interpolate the missing or bad information from.

You were right to check the source files by having your Pro Tools guy/gal import it directly. If he is worth his salt he can re-import and phase-match the original tracks to the cut ones in tools, then toss the ones that sound like rice krispies…

    Wrong. Beta software is free!

XDCAM transfer is no longer supported. Use XDCAM Browser instead, all will be well.
