[Sam Cole] “Avid will then go down hill even faster as FCP 8 with the power of Blackmagic behind it would prove too competitive.”
You must not know too much about Avid. They have the feature film market cornered, and have had for a while.
They also have a line of audio editing products called Pro Tools. Most commercial music is recorded using this system as well as most TV and Film projects’ audio post production and editing.
Just some food for thought…

September 6, 2011 at 11:27 pm in reply to: Recommended audio software programs for mac?I’ll have to say Pro Tools is actually easier for audio editing than anything else I have had to use (I have not used the Adobe product).
With Apple’s software I find it is geared more towards MIDI and centers around that. Everything you do in Pro Tools is in one of two windows as opposed to multiple sub-menus an pop-up edit windows.

In the future third party companies will make better flavors for the new tea.

Pro Tools works incredibly well with media Composer. I use both.
media Composer does not talk to all the pro tools HD hardware though

Yikes! Most of my clients are watching the videos we make on large LCD and Plasma TVs which exist in the ATSC (read HDTV) color space. Computer monitors do not accurately display what the product will look like on those displays because they have a different color space. Additionally, computer GPUs are designed to drive monitors. Most video playback devices like a blu-ray player or a JPEG 2000 broadcast server output video in a completely different fashion.

New=Better”I’ll work from the bottom up.
New=new but it doesn’t always = better.
Second, what ISP do you have that the rest of us don’t know about? The fastest non-commercial ISP I have found only has 2.0 mBps upload speeds (FYI the advertised speeds are DOWNLOAD speeds). That’s slower that USB 1.0 and it has taken 10 years to get that fast! Why would I want to have to wait a week for all my footage to upload to “the cloud” before I can edit it? Apple will probably claim it as their property once it’s on their servers anyhow! HA!

Yeahhh ummm
According to this weeks Nielsen ratings Android devices account for 11% more of the post paid mobile market than iOS devices.
Pretty sure it was the combo of the two that put the WebOs out of the picture…

[Scott Sheriff] “One thing apple could learn from Steenbeck. Steenbeck supports their editor back to models made in 1979. Apple can’t even support something made 3 years ago, let alone 30”
Whammy!

I find it truly amazing how many Apple apologists there are on this forum.
I think it is OK for people to knock or praise a product that they have used and know. On the other hand I think it is bad for people to spread rumors either for or against something when they have no actual knowledge of it. When people speak for Apple (as if they worked for them) saying that Apple will or will not be adding features in the future it really does not help anyone since this is pure speculation on their part. Apple needs to be telling the consumers what their plans for the future are, and they should be the only people doing this.
Never in my life have I seen so many people step up to the plate and pretend to be mouthpieces for a company or product. It is very cult-like behavior and I do applaud Apple for creating possibly the most brand loyal consumers in history.
i am going to repost this as a new thread.
