And don’t forget live TV where people are using EVS and others…

Oh yeah, and I’m ready to catch shade…
There is always Avid

Wow this drifted a bit.
I skipped to the end so maybe someone mentioned this already. Has the OP considered maybe the projects are corrupt or there is a disk permissions issue? Are you on external storage? Have you checked the file/folder permissions? Are they propagating properly downward? At the very least you can use disk utility to repair basic permissions. If you are good at using google you can fine pretty much anything you want to know about the UNIX command line, and there is a built in manual…

You may want to consider hiring an AV integrator.

They forgot the Virtual Dolby Rack and Virtual DBX Rack that reduce noise and crosstalk while increasing spectral smear and dynamic pumping!
-
And the virtual assistant (full sail edition) has no drivers license so you also have to get the virtual runner plug in, but both only last 30 days before quitting or getting fired…

January 20, 2016 at 9:28 pm in reply to: Looking for suggestions / recommendations on studio equipmentOne more thing. Most integrators make their living off submitting proposals. You should concentrate on defining the requirements of the system, and send out an RFP. Let the vendors figure it out!!
Some good resources are InfoComm, SBE, and SMPTE if you are unfamiliar with the process.

January 20, 2016 at 9:25 pm in reply to: Looking for suggestions / recommendations on studio equipmentDefinitely a broad question. Nobody on here is going to design your studio (or even spec gear) for free!
You should find a local BROADCAST integrator that works with your local procurement CO-OP (nice, low, fixed prices for schools) if you work at a public school. I put the word broadcast in caps because there are plenty of AV and wall-banger (TV hanger) “integrators” that claim they can do broadcast because they have access to brands like BMD and Vaddio, when in reality they can barely hang a TV level! I speak from experience…
Also you should probably reach out to your procurement people now to find out what the paperwork, RFP/RFQ, and bidding requirements will be for this project. Last thing you want to do is put together a great wish list with a vendor only to find out you have to hire someone to design your system, then have a bunch of vendors bid on the sale, and installation contracts.

First off what are you “converting it to a broadcast file” with? From your description I conjecture that your problem is happening in the encode phase of your workflow.
Also is the “spot specification” dictated by the broadcaster that has the problem with your files or a third party?
Also, there is nothing wrong with an engineer having quality control standards and sticking to their guns. I wish there were more of us.

March 29, 2013 at 2:18 am in reply to: Apple to launch new PR campaign for FCPX leading up to NAB.[Chris Kenny] “So it seems to me that showing a project originating from FCP X being taken into a high-end finishing suite is rather more relevant than making sure to use a shot of a couple of monitors with the FCP X interface visible on them. “
I hear where your coming from since it’s a re-recording stage and not an edit suite. I still think it was a bad choice to show a photo full of your competitors products instead of your own at the top of an article about yourself (you referring to Apple of course). If I had done the layout that picture would have been buried further down in the article.
Please take in to consideration I am bashing the article layout, not any particular piece of gear/software.
