With the item slected go to the appearance palette, and doubleclick on extrude and beval

On a layer of bone/beige color
Filter >> texture >> texturizer

Use the dodge/burn tool to vary the lighting.

For Water Damage:
You can blur a feathered selection to create water damage, and do a curves correction to slightly change the tone.

You do not want to take the saturation down before converting, that is compressing the gamut range of the image prior to conversion.

Edit>> Color Settings >> Settings: US Prepress Defaults (this will chaneg your other settings, especially good to have Adobe 1998 for RGB.

Then convert RGB to CMYK If you still need more saturation and detail.

Float a copy of the layer.
Change top layer blending mode to Soft Light
Change transparency to between 30%-60%
If image is slightly to dark do a curves correction and take the 50% midtone dot for all channels to about 42%.

The problem of going from RGB to CMYK you lose saturation, by your post are you experiencing the inverse????

You should place your files in C:\WINDOWS\Fonts, if you desire all apps to be abel to see the font. Or beter yet use a font utility such as Suitcase to open/close your fonts.

The common files location is not reliable and changes with every update of Adobe Creative and Video suite.

You could use the script to export layers to a file, and then run the action on the entire folder.

File >> Scripts >> Export Layers To Files

Scaling in illustrator always centers around a reference point. By default that reference point is in teh cnter, unless changed in the transform palette.

Therfore if you wish to scale the object relative to itself, you are wanting to scael from the center. You only need to click or drag withe teh sacel tool being active. You can also doublecikc on the scael tool to get the window to open so you can enter an amount.

In Illustrator you need to click and drag to set area text (Text in a box).

I have a feeling you may be setting point text by clicking with the text tool and immediately releasing without dragging. You can align point text, you just need to watch the dot(aka point) on the line.

POint text will flow on one line until you hit a return, where area text flows within a box.

You can also draw any shape adn change your text tool to teh area tool to set area type.

They used to be in Illustrator under effect >>pen & Ink >> Hatch effects. They bascially rendered a mezzotint look of your imaeg so were useful for rough effects.

The filters are not there anymore on my CS at work (have notseen them in quite a while and have nto seen them on my CS2 at home), but check your install CD incase it is a goodie or extra item that can be installed. Not sure what happened to them.

After clicking on the icon to boot Illustrator, immediately hold down shift command alt. You will be asked if you wish to reset the prefs, click ok.

If that does not fix your problem, you may have some Mac OSX security issues and can run the disk utility, in your applications folder, then click on the fix permissions button.

If still not working do a fin for .lst on your drive. You can delete each one of those by commadn delete on each filename in the results. Those files get corrupted occasionally and they regenerate themeselves so trashing them is ok.

OK so you have confimred that the keys work in other programs just not in Photoshop.

Try to boot Photoshop, and immediately afterwards hold down the Shift Ctrl Alt keys. You will be asked to delete the prefs, click ok.
