Tile open windows open for both your document.
In CS2 highlight all the layers you want to copy, then drag your layer thumbnail.
In CS1 link all the layers you wish to copy.
In CS1 click and hold on a pixel on your canvas.
Then add shift and drop this onto the canvas of your new document. (Shift centers everything) -
A filter such as Andromweda Velocirapter can create motion streaks for you. PS has a motion blur, but it only does straight lines. I still think you will get better speed for creating this effect in after effects and exporting a frame to s still image.

This should not happen randonly. Ctrl H will toggle show and hide edges. If you can actually select items with the direct tool, but they do not show as selected but you can move them, you may be unintentionally hitting Ctrl H.

In Illustrator
You can create the dot pattern by defining a scatter brush with a small circle. Apply this to a larger circle, then adjust the scatter brush spacing so that the first and last item overlap (using the up/down cursor key to adjust the spacing value will help. After you have one cirlce of dots you will want to use duplicate larger rings of dots and rotate 45 degrees (transform each can make this process easier).You should now have a symetrical pattern of circles looking like a halftone pattern. You can then use the bloat tool, or open this in photoshop adn use liquify. The distorting part of this may not be as much control as you like, but hopefully this post gives you some ideas towards the correct direction to proceed.
Would be nice if the symbol sprayer could spray symetrically as I liked your original idea, or if you could atleast use the symbol distortion tool on brushes.

You want to use the appearance palette when you need multiple strokes. You will have an easy time if set the file and stroke to none in the toolbar, then go to the appearance palette add an additional stroke, adn drag your fill in the appearance palette above allthe strokes (so your stroke goes outwards, not half in half out).
You can lastly add a black stroke to the entire layer to get the outermost stroke in your logo. Teh appearance palette is tricky to use for newbsies, but it is important to watch if it says character, group or layer at the top (that is the reson I set all my strokes and fills to non at the beginning so I get no conflict of interest between character level appearance and type level appearance).
The appearance palette is to Illustrator as important as levels are to photoshop.

Easily fixed by opening the file in photohsop.
Edit >> preferences >> file handling >> maximize psd compatibility (to ask or on)
Then do a save as, adn you can save over the same filename.The files do get larger and slower to save, so this is why adobe let you turn off compatibility.

Any suggestions for getting the photographs to look like a stone carving (less detail).
I have tried using a gray image for a displacment map on rock texture, and so far having my best results using Illustrator live trace (16 colors, blur 2)on a photograph I used match color on to get the gray stone color.

Unfortunetly there are no table style or a plug in that I know of to do this. Would be nice if the eyedropper could pick up a table style, adn if atleast then all you had to do was apply paragraph styles to the type.
All you can do is copy your formatted table, paste this, and then paste the data over this. Sorry. Good idea for CS3.

Looks alot like the glowing edges glass effect in DVD workshop by Ulead.
You usually want vector quality for a logo so may want to do this in illustrator. Illustrator has a neon graphic style, but to get closer to this you can go to:

and download a glowing glass style for illustrator.The blob in the middle on top of the logo you will need to do with the transparency palette opacity mask.
