Try turning off automatic updates.

Located in applications >> Utilities >> Adobe Utilites >> Adobe Updater.

Or it may have somehting to do with your registration checking the internet.

Can you use File >> Adobe PDF Presets >> instead?

If your on a mac try running the applications >> Utiliteis >> disk utility to repair permissions.

How about if you print ot a .ps file and try to distill the .ps rather than an .eps.

Is it on a locked layer?

Is your master page based on another (eg: master page B Based on Master Page A)

Can you shift Ctrl click on the box to unlock/release it?

I tried inserting a variable of filename and saved the document and reopened, and did not have a problem editing it in CS3 PC.

OK u have the standard color settings so that is good. Check what you have set in photoshop.

Try looking at you placed images. Resave one of them in another file format (Eg: psd or eps) and change them to CMYK or RGB and see what happens.

Also does this happen for every pdf setting (eg: smallest file size, High quality print).

Try making a sample dummy document in InDesign and place only 1 item at a time, to help you narrow down the culprit (eg: draw a filled color box, place an image, set some type)

One way this will happen is if you create a library item, and then go edit the [Basic Paragraph] paragraph style sheet (change the font) and then bring the item in from your library. Strangely this does not seem to work if you change the point size.

I love working in Photoshop and use that wehn designing web pages rather than Dreamweaver.

If you are more comfortable doing entire layouts in PS and then just using InDesign for output, keep going that way unless someone else has a problem with htis (eg: your print vendor)

I personally like the drop shadows better in Photoshop and all the Object Effects as they seem faster and more accurate on the preview.

I do think InDsign has much more advanced typesetting options so would try to lean more towards setting your type in inDesign. But if you are only doing headlines, and they are more graphic in nature (eg: distressed effects) then stick with Photoshop. If you have large ammounts of copy or need (spellcheck, textwrap, hyphenation, justification, tables, glyph panel) then maybe try using InDesign.

Your 1 page should not still be 104mb after taking our 31 pages with images.

My only significant disapointment with InDesign is the large file sizes, so I am curious what the solution to your problem will be.

1)Delete any master pages you do not need
2)Make sure you used SAVE AS rather than SAVE. It makes a difference and is comparible to MS Word doing fast save.
3)When you SAVE AS UNCHECK “Always Save Overiew Images with Socuments”
4)Check your layers palette to see if you have any layers with visibility turned to off
5) You can try removing and unused character/obhect/table styles. The size should decrease only very slightly fomr this, btu in your case there is a small chance it might clear up something corrupted.

With NO document open, edit your [Basic Paragraph} paragraph style to what you want your default text to be when you type new text in InDesign.

Now when placing text do a command D,
then check the box for show import options,
then choose the radio button Remove style
enable the checkbox Preserve Local Overrides

If you still have some different sizes/bold italic you need to get rid of option click on the [basic paragraph]+ style to get rid of the + and the mixed overrides.

Dont worry abut the “unexpected results” message that has to do with color shifting.

Take your illustrator file and do a save as and save as Illustrator CS rather than Illustrator CS3. I have a feeling you may have a newer version of Illustrator than your vendor.

I believe the question needs to be asked ” Why do they need EPS?” Are they looking for vector quality. If so then shapes and text can retain in vector quality in going from Photoshop to Illustrator, using save as EPS and choosing Keep vector Data. as to EPS. (you will want to convert text to shapes first).

Easiest way is to open your illustrator file in photoshop and feather it there as a bitmap.

Feathering in Illustrator is bitmapped anyway so if you have a quality issue from scaling just bitmap your .ai file at a higher resolution.
