When Photoshop saves your images the resource fork kind changes from jpg to jpeg. The first thing you have to decide is in you want all your images to have the jpeg(photohsop) or jpg(generic) resource fork.

The solution is simple if you want all images to have the kind : Photoshop jpeg image, just resave ALL your images with photoshop (using an action to speed up the process).

If you want all your images asigned the generice reoucr fork tag then
1. make a new folder, in the same folder you image folde is in.
2. control click on folder selecting, Attach a folder action
3. choose duplicate as jpeg script
that’s it if you images are “TIFF”, “GIFf”, “PNGf”, “PICT”
If they are already jpeg, you’ll need to do this…
4. now a very small amount of code editing
5. control select your new folder again
6. choose Edit Folder Action , Script editor opens
7. you will need to type directly in (don’t cut and paste this) including comma. ,”JPEG”
8. type it on line property type_list after “PICT”
9. you will need to type directly in (don’t cut and paste this) including comma. ,”jpg”
10. type it on line property extension_list after “pct”
11. save
12. now drop in your images to the folder
13. you can disable the action, using control click on folder if you like.

Or

Open all your Photoshop jpeg images in preview.app and resave each one individually.

What Mac OS version are you using? I am on 10.4.8 and doing an info on the droplet in the general section underneath color labels is a checkbox option for “Open in Classic environment”. That option only comes up on droplets (probably siince they have no file extension). I do not get an open with (where you choose the application) on the droplet, how about you?

When swithcing to another machine, links get broken becasue the EXACT path name has cahnegd (eg: name of hard drive).

Illustrator does have built in relative linking, but it works only if you placed psd, is next to teg .ai file in the saem folder.

I often get a DVD and when I try to open the .ai file most of the links are broken and there are about 100 folders on the disk. My solution is to take all the files and put them in one folder.

What Illustrator desperately needs since 1.0 version is a collect for output as in InDesign. There is a program called flightcheck that will gather your links and fonts from a .ai file.

CS2 should be able to print yur gradient/shadows fine, my guess is a setting got changed.

Go to print and choose avance adn check your transparency flattener setting.

If you are printing seperations than in ouput check your lpi setting.

If that does not do it reset your preferences, by immediately after booting InDesign (hold down SHIFT OPT COMMAND) and say yes to resetting your prefs.

Which PDF preset or settings are you using to make your PDF?

In InDesign what do you have under edit >> color settings

Select your droplet and do a Command I. Under general open in classic environment shoudl not be checked.

Also try running: applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and fix permissions.

Does your droplet run fine as an action, and under file >> automation>> batch?

Are you using spot colors? If for example you created a spot color called Headline and it was black, placed that in your library, adn then in a new document you have a color with the exact same name of headline but it is red, then your libarary item will change to red type wehn placed.

Otherwise try to load your paragraph styles using the paragraph palette flyout menu >> load paragraph styles>> choose and Indesign docuemtn that contains the paragraph style you want to import.

In your tools palette click on the bottom tool, and choose preview.THis will hided the frame edges and show you what your document looks like when printed.

When placing your EPS, try choosing the setting of rasterize to postscript.

If taht does notwork then try to save you photoshpp EPS as either a .psd or .pdf and place this in InDesign. The PDF will hold vector quality if you need that. PSD is a nice format also as it has transparency and has nonlossy compression.

Can you select your text frame? IOf not then it is on a master page and you need to unlock it form the master page (Shift Ctrl click on the item).

All your settings for text wrap are in palette accessed by: window >> text warp
