I don’t hear the crunchy (distorted noise) on the first one, only on the second one. I don’t have access to that software, but I tried running it through a declipper in Adobe Audition and just as a thought it didn’t work. The clips aren’t peaking in fact, they are not even close. So that’s why I’m confused on how I got this distortion noise in the first place.

Have you tried booting up into safe mode? That might do the trick. Shut down the computer. When you turn it on, immediately after you hear the chime press and hold the shift key. There will be a grey status bar that loads underneath the apple, if its loading in safe mode.

I have had the same issue after a fresh LION install. All of my ProRes codecs were gone. I installed FCPX and they were still not there. This was the fix I found after doing some research.

I tried that, when I paste it on the layer nothing happens. tried copying the path from Contents>Group 1>Path 1 and also Contents>Group 1>Path 1>path. I also tried selecting the 3 vertices from the comp viewer and copying that way, that didn’t work either.

Well for what it’s worth I submitted a bug request. Kevin I appreciate whatever you can do to push this issue. I believe way more people are affected by this problem than the internet shows. With Adobe taking a lot of old FCP users, I am surprised that they don’t think this is a bigger problem than it is. I’ve rarely gone into an edit studio where you won’t find at least one Wacom tablet.

What camera did you use to film your footage?

are you using MFX files by any chance? I’ve had problems with them creating black flash frames before. SO I had to convert to ProRes 422.

January 11, 2013 at 9:15 pm in reply to: Copying guides from comp to comp

AFter googling this same subject I found this thread. I wish there was a way to do this easily as well. One solution I found is to duplicate the comp you want to use the guides from, and then select all and delete the layers. Now you will have an empty comp with your guides in tack.

p.s. – This is a very old thread I don’t know if I am suppose to comment on old threads, but there still hasn’t been a solution so I figured I would put in my 2 sense.

Looks like a track matte through a text layer. Precomp it, and then apply a think stroke.
