We export the MPEG-2 for DVD from Premiere – personal preference, just make sure Encore doesn’t try to fill the DVD with video. I like to be able to make a DVD image without first having to transcode the video.

this site has a free program which generates an AVI of whatever time code numbers you want. if it works, just make a movie for the time period you want, then reverse it, resize it, make it part of a graphic or whatever

I also found a website which has an AVI available for download from 00-60:00:00:00 – which I use for making TC burns in Premiere – you could use that and do the same thing to it.

the old ADO units had a trails feature, which on a static shot would provide a similar effect (watch old music videos from the 70’s on VH1). I know Graffiti has a trails effect.

or how about a keyboard with impact resistant LCD panels in each key – or a thought controlled computer – that would be cool.

We have used the ADVC 100 very reliably, as well as a consumer DV camera. We also bought the Pyro A/V link with Premiere Pro Elements. It is very flaky – doesn’t always show up as a device – stick with Canopus.

I have yet to successfully export a Windows Media from PPro – I export a self-contained AVI – then use Premiere 6.5 to make my Windows Media – or Sorenson Squeeze if you have that.
My PPro generated WMV files playback all messed up – no visible picture, just digital noise in shades of green.

visit ifilm.com – the rubbish that people call independent films – unmotivated edits, really poor dialogue, worse sound – walter murch couldn’t save these things – there are a few gems.
i will give SW Ep III kudos for doing a couple of wipes which were motivated by action crossing the screen, rather than the usual variety at the end of a scene – there is one where chewbacca crosses the screen and he becomes the wipe.
aside from that, it has been said many times that Lucas edits on the word, and uses few cutaways during dialogue.Agree with Sideways – aside from some T&A, pretty much the worst movie ever made.
Recently saw Elephant – beautifully photographed, with some interesting editing concepts.
I’ll be on the lookout for bad editing now that I’m thinking abou it.

I don’t believe you can do that. The Pioneer DVD recorder I have will actually control your camcorder. Not sure if these devices will see input video over firewire, like with analog inputs, or if it needs to have a control signal also.
