don’t you need QT 7 to make ipod video? With PPro 1.5 I export an AVI and use Sorenson Squuze to make m4v files for ipod, or you can use QT Pro but it is mud slow.

the new feature which bugs me most is the titles being part of the project file – to have to export titles just to use them in another project is ridiculous –
that’s many extra keystrokes,typing, folder navigation – unnecessary steps in an already busy workflow – who at Adobe came up with that idea? Do the programmers actually use these programs?
The invisible video track is a good idea, but you’ll have to remember to leave empty tracks in your sequences. Why not just marquee around multiple clips and paste attributes all at once?
Oh well, can’t fight city hall.

it would be nice to be able to have two sequences (timelines) on screen at once – it is nice to be able to drag from one sequence to another, rather than copying and pasting.
Also, copying and pasting or dragging from a timeline to a bin is a nice feature, but one we won’t see in Premiere probably.

Thanks for the tip – I actually figured it out – Next to the custom shape tool in the tool options bar, I had selected path only, as opposed to fil path – not sure of the exact names for these icons, but that solved the problem – I had turned off the fill when I was experimenting with the pen tool.

I have used the small AVI of timecode as an overlay on the top track of the sequence. It needs to render, but does play back pseudo realtime – i make my windows dubs to DVD so it is going to render to mp2 anyway.

What is your source? DV25?
No offense, but if you think a program is crap, try something else. This forum, however, can often shed light on these types of issues.

sub the DVD to DVCAM or whatever tape format you use, then digitize it the usual way.

What I find works pretty well is to assign someone a full video (something with a relaxed deadline, but with a deadline).
Then go through the video with the editor, and make a laundry list of things to fix, effects to add, teach them how to do whatever they don’t know how to do, then let them go do the next edit. Then do it again. After that process, I can see big improvements.
That’s how I was trained at my job 11 years ago – except I also had to figure out the online edit bay while cutting the project. Nothing like adjusting subcarrier phase with a client looking over your shoulder!
