    Hi, its Marten from Barcelona, i need to convert a DVD into a format that i can import into Final Cut. This is for a documentary on the early days of surfing in south east asia… Thanks a lot if someone mght be able to help.

    Try using MPEG StreamClip. Many options and very fast.

    sub the DVD to DVCAM or whatever tape format you use, then digitize it the usual way.

    The problem with that is that most DVDs are progressive, and most DV cameras are interlaced, so you would introduce a significant loss in quality with that method.
