you are correct – you can edit the text in Illustrator – each word appears to be a separate object, but it can be done if need be (double click on text, that word becomes an editable text object) You can’t just click the text once with the text tool like in photoshop – it creates a new text object.

This could have saved me flip flopping between programs.

Anyway, we did eventually get the Quark files, but this was good enough to get the client’s approval on a new design for the cover without going back to the designer.

I must learn more about Illustrator – the 2 hours spent so far have been eye opening.

you know, that would be an interesting book – FCP vs. PPRO.
Invent a video project, shoot the footage, write a script, with storyboards for effects and editing selects – basically do all the prep for hading off to an editor.
Then hand the materials off to one or more FCP and PPRO editors, and have them keep track of time spent doing each task, and document how they did each effect or type of edit.
Then interview the editors on a edit by edit basis to get feedback about how they were able to do everything, including workarounds or hassles.

Then make a book comparing and contrasting the two approaches to editing the
same material.

Are there any ways to have more than the default option for H264 in QT pro – we are on a PC.

It seems posting my problem here is the same as talking to myself about it.
Upon reboot, the saved project with a different name was intact. Encountered same problem in same place – appears to be a bad pice of video.

what is stereo but two mono tracks panned two ways. Essentially, if all you had were a bunch of mono tracks, you could keep the project mono by panning everything to center, or make it stereo by panning various tracks one way or the other.

There have been some threads on this subject further down this forum.
Looking at it from a Media 100 perspective, for example, you capture a clip which has say lav on ch.1 and shotgun on ch.2 – you can adjust the tracks together or independently without extra steps of unlinking and duplicating tracks. You drag a stereo clip to the timeline, and channel 1 audio goes to audio track 1, 2 goes to 2, or whatever you tell it to map them to, as opposed to one steroe track of a clip occupying just one stereo track on the timeline.
It is a bit clunky, but that fill left/fill right effect is a lifesaver. You can set one clip and then copy and paste attributes to many clips simultaneously.
