CC page turn is great, but Serge had an interesting variation on page turn if you want a 3D book-look, or don’t have CC Page Turn (some AE versions don’t). I don’t see the 3D Book still on his site, but father down is a link to an aep for 3D Book:

Jeff is right, Dan’ tut is exactly what you want. You can sub in your own image layers (psd’s etc) and control many of the parameter’s within the expression. And the best part is it’s 3D so you can do a flythru if you want.

Maybe with a little spacing changes you can modify this to make your ticker, maybe not. It comes with an aep.:

A least with this you won’t have to have a problem with losing resolution (size) as you shake the layer if done with a position expression. Quaker fills in the gaps it makes. This isn’t an expression, but a preset, it may or may not work for you, but it’s free and a fun/useful item.

If you’re talking about Aharon’s instructional video, I believe he’s using a program like Catasima:

If you want an arrow on it’s own layer to follow thw path of a mask, twirl down the mask, highlite and copy the mask shape, then paste that into the Arrow layer’s Position property, you get position keyframes that match the mask patIs that what you want to do?

Without a particle genrator you can do it with Shatter with the correct settings. You could even throw scatter on top of it to make the particles finer.
