I just had the same problem with FCP 6 capturing from a sony fx 7, clicking on the play button in FCP results in the ‘searching for media’ error, but pushing play on the camera itself seems to solve the problem.

no reason I can find, just some bizarre glitch that just showed up today.

    Hey Jon,

    Thanks for the quick response.
It didn’t help. I’m still getting a line from the pre-comp.
    i changed it to 4000×4000
I’ll keep playing with it. I think it’s now that the face i have inside the smoke isn’t big enough & i’m actually seeing the bottom of her frame (from the green screen)

    Thanks Chris.

I’m trying your idea, I think it might be helping, but it might also be wishful thinking; but I’m out of ideas.
it’s really weird. it looks like rings of shadows, instead of being solid shadows, there’s a main one, then rings of shadows out to where it stops. also very pixelated.

Sorry if I’m beating a dead horse, but I’ve got no ideas left.

Thanks again for all the help!

    I think I solved it.

Output with 1080i60 compression and everything seems to be fine.
    newbie mistake…

    Thanks.

I’d love to be able to do that. but The original footage is gone. I’m the 2nd editor to attempt to work with this project.

I have been given virtually no information about how it was shot and have no idea how it was imported by the first editor. I was given the files from a hard drive and told that the original footage was not accessible.

Any other ideas? i can post some screen grabs if that would help.

    They’re pretty close.

it is a person laying in a bed, it almost looks like a ring around the bed.
