    Thanks for the reply Jeremy.

The way i usaully export xml is:

    1. With the “Browser” selected and nothing highlighted, I select File/Export/XML.
    2. I then select XML 2(or 3 but definately not 4) with the “Save project with the latest clip metadata” box checked.
    3. After the file is done exporting, I then try to import it using FCP 5.1.4 with all the options checked and using the default sequence settings.

Should work right! Not sure what’s going on here. I done this the same way many times before with no issues.

Thanks Michael! Yes, I would like to have my cake and eat it too! Thanks for the post. I will look closely at your recommended setup. Thanks again!

Thanks for the reply Walter. I’m not at the stage “yet” to purchase the Panasonic AJ-HD1400. I would prefer DVC pro HD as opposed to HDV of course. Just was looking for an alternate solution without having to rent HD decks all the time. Thanks again!

    Bob, any thoughts?

August 28, 2007 at 8:15 pm in reply to: Need advice for balanced audio to AES for KONA 3 input

Bob, I just bought a similiar setup. Here’s what I have: Kona 3 w/K3-box, AJA IO, and HD link feeding my Apple 23 inch monitor. How should I hook up my AJA IO to the Kona 3 so I can digitize analog and view analog video on the monitor. Make sense? I tried SDI Out (AJA IO) to K3-box SDI in, then K3box SDI out to the HDlink for viewing. Nothing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Bob I’m in complete agreement with you. Analog audio is a must. I’m deciding on whether to go with the HD Extreme like you suggested or the Multibridge Extreme like Luke suggested. I appreciate your advice. Thanks again!

    Luke,

Thank you for responding. We’re trying to decide on getting the Decklink HD Extreme or the Multibridge like you suggested. Since we already have the HDlink, we’re leaning more towards the HD Extreme. It’s cheaper too. What are the stand out differences between the Multibridge and the HD Extreme?

    Thank you,

    Mike

You know what….after further review, I think we’re going to swap out the BM Decklink HDPro with the AJA Kona 3 w/Kbox. The Decklink is a great card and I would highly recommend it if you don’t need analog audio. Their website says something similiar to this effect. Call me old school but I really want to be able to monitor my audio (split audio especially) through my mixer. I want to accomplish this without buying analog/digital audio converters or going through a deck. Oh, and I guess the whole 2k thing is pretty cool too **Sacasm**.

So…can I still monitor SDI out to my Apple 23inch via BM HDLink or do I need to purchase AJA’s HDP? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Thanks Bob Zelin,

As far as converters and connections, what would you recommend? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I purchased this card for 4:4:4 as opposed to a 4:2:2 limit. Guess I got greedy and jumped the gun.

    Thanks for your help,

Thanks Mark. I think I’m going to get the Tascam FW-1082. Would be cool to adjust levels with mixer instead of clicking on the clip. I appreciate the advise.
