    Hello All,
Just wondering if any of you have had issues with XML exports in FCP 6.

I just finished my offline for a 90min feature using FCP 6.0.1.
The online facility is using FCP 5.1.2. Ok, no big deal, I’ll just export a XML file.

Exporting out of FCP 6 has been quite the ordeal. I tried XML 1-4 and none have seemed to work correctly. The closest I’ve been able to get is getting clips from V1 only. No audio, no V2, V3, etc.

    AAAARRG!

I deleted still frames and speed % changes from the sequence and still nothing. I’m really frustrated and I’m really considering reverting back to FCP 5.1.4. Is it just me or is something awry? Your thoughts are appreciated. Btw, I’m NOT on Leopard.

    Mike

You don’t have a chance unless you take one.

That’s definitely a problem you have.

What if you media managed first to recompress and copy only the media you’re using.. then collapsed all the video to as few track as possible… then try the XML output?

I, too, have swapped XMLs back and forth between FCP 5 & 6 with no issue. I would stick with XMLv3 as v4 is FCP6 specific.

Now, on their side of things, FCP 5.1.2 wasn’t the greatest of apps but 5.1.4 was really stable. When you go to export the XML, how are you doing it?

    Thanks for the reply Jeremy.

The way i usaully export xml is:

    1. With the “Browser” selected and nothing highlighted, I select File/Export/XML.
    2. I then select XML 2(or 3 but definately not 4) with the “Save project with the latest clip metadata” box checked.
    3. After the file is done exporting, I then try to import it using FCP 5.1.4 with all the options checked and using the default sequence settings.

Should work right! Not sure what’s going on here. I done this the same way many times before with no issues.

Are swapping the whole project or just the timeline?
