I back up all my footage onto USB hard drives so even if the raid fails I wont lose anything.

Do you or anyone else know if the two drives, Hitachi HUA723020ALA641 and Hitachi HUA723020ALA640 are compatible in a Pegasus R4 raid?

Ideally I would like to change all four but don’t have the finances to do so at the moment.

Do you know if a Hitachi HUA723020ALA640 will work with there other Hitachi HUA723020ALA641?

That’s what I thought. My computer supplier told me I couldn’t any one from the list.

    Thanks for your reply

Have a Pegasus raid for almost two years now and two drives have gone down in that time. The first went down after 11 months and the second after about 15.

I have both FC7 and FCX running on the same drive and I have had absolutely no problems. You cannot have them both running at the same time.

Have to admit using FC7 less and less

[Jeff Carpenter] “This is just my opinion, but I only buy monitors in these 2 set-ups:

    1) A single large monitor that I can do everything on.

    or

    2) Two identical monitors, side by side.

Maybe it’s just me, but I can not stand working on dual-monitors that are different sizes and resolutions. Even if one is just for bins or something like that, I much prefer to have everything the same on both halves.”

Which in your opinion is better 2 dual 24″ or a single 30″ monitor? I use the system primarily for editign documentaries but do some corporate work which entails usign motion and live type.

[walter biscardi] “What you’ll need if you want to record to HDV is a recorder and connect the helo’s camera to the deck. Or better yet, rent a Panasonic AJ-HD1200A and record to DVCPro HD for a better codec for editing.”

That makes sense. Thanks for your help.

    Walter,

Thanks for your help but maybe I didn’t make myself clear. The camera is attached to the gyro. It will not be my camera but the helicopter company’s one. The output from their camera is SDI. Is it possible to take the SDI output from their camera and record in HDV on my camera? Is it possible to record HDV from a SDI input?
