Count me in as well. Maybe we should all chime in inside the Adobe forum?

  • I am going to try and sell them on recording the audio separately on a zoom H4n recorder located at the board. I am planning on going from 1/4 -> xlr into the H4n. Do you recommend any other adapters for this scenario? Thank you!

  • Thank you for your advice! It sounds like I am going to have to sell them on running cable or just hooking my zoom recorder into the mixer and monitor the recorder at the board.

Thank you for your help. You’re definitely right, mpeg-2 is the way to go.

Thank you Mr. Perlinger. I just contacted Getty about obtaining the high-rez clips.

Looks like the mpeg-2 files are the way to go. I’m going to conduct some more tests with QT Pro tomorrow morning.

What other software/hardware do you recommend? By the way, https://publicdomainfootage.com/ has some hi-rez(and kinda pricey) public domain footage if you need it.

    Thank you for your help.

Thanks Serge! The proportional spacing fixes the movement problem. Do you have any ideas about how to start the ‘timecode’ @ 01:00:00:00 ?

    Thanks again,

Thank you for your response Dave. When I posted I was using the Timecode effect under the video bracket in AE 6.5. The work around I found was the Numbers effect. I made the black window box with a mask and a black solid behind the video. With the Numbers effect I couldn’t find a way to start the timecode at 01:00:00:00 . The ‘timecode’ with the numbers plugin would also slightly move. I don’t understand the movement, I checked and there were no keyframes on that layer. The rough cut is out the door but it would be great to know how to do this properly for future rough cuts.

    Hey Dave-

Thanks for all the input, this thread is putting me on the right track. At some point in the future I am going to update my system. I’m thinking I might as well get AE 7.0 right now and save some scratch in the future. I have the ATY,RV350 graphics card and OS 10.3.9 . If I use an older preview mode will AE 7.0 work on my current system?

    Thank you for your time,

    Hey Dave-

I’m using a mac with OSX Version 10.3.9 . I’m currently using Avid Xpress DV to edit. Somewhere down the line I’m going to make the leap to Final Cut. I’m not going to be making the transition to Final Cut in the near future. I use Apple Compressor to create Mpeg-2 files and I build/burn dvds in Dvd Studio Pro. I will be using After Effects to supplement the editing in Xpress DV. I am not pursuing a career path through After Effects, I will be building custom lower thirds, titles, pop ups, etc… for my own projects. Well anyways I hope this gives you a better idea of what I’m up to.

    Thanks Dave,
