  • What do you mean you can’t position it anymore?
If you pick-whipped the position of the center of the light rays to the null object, simply add +value on the end of your expression and you can adjust (and even animate) the center.

I was afraid of that. You might try applying a Levels effect and pushing the alpha channel before the RepeTile effect. Or maybe a Matte Choker…

That is likely due to AE’s antialiasing of the Illustrator file. Try using the alpha add blend mode.

  • You could use the same thing that’s driving the displacement as a matte for effects. You can set a duplicate of it as a track matte for an adjustment layer for one thing.

  • Many computer monitors and projectors work at 30Hz or 60Hz, so make sure your playback device is capable of doing what you need too.

  • Make sure you’ve installed the latest version of Trapcode’s plugins.
    AE doesn’t recognize OBJ’s natively.

  • Not really. Redacting things takes time.
And, if they want it in a hurry, it takes overtime!

[Anthony Mrad] “Isn’t there a way to do it fast?”

    Yes. Just do it.

That stuff doesn’t take very long. I would recommend doing your first edit in Premiere Pro. That way you can time things to the music, lay out the images, and do some basic movement (if you wanted to) with real time previews. Then come into AE to do the more complicated parts.

In After Effects you can set up an animation preset with the settings you want on Card Wipe to get yourself most of the way there and then just tweak things for different images.
