It sounds like you’re only making one keyframe. If you enable keyframing and then start changing the color on the only keyframe, of COURSE it’ll change it for the whole video…

    What?
    That doesn’t make any sense.
Oh! Wait, you also need to have the camera in the precomp pointed at the logo where you want it.

Look, it sounds like you are jumping in WAY over your head. You should really consider taking a step back and learning the basics of how AE works first before trying something like this.

You can’t make your layer 3d if you’re also using Element on it. Element must be applied to a 2d layer only.

Now, if the tutorial won’t work with a 2d layer, you can precompose your logo (making sure to move all attributes into the precomp. THEN you can make it 3d and it will react more like you expect.

What does your layer look like before you turn it 3d? What are you trying to do? What tutorial are you following? How did you create your logo?

  • As mentioned in this thread, it would be a good idea to recolor those polys and use them as a custom shatter map for the Shatter effect. 🙂

  • Use masks for #2 on several copies of the layer. You can then use expressions to make each successive ring spin more than the last.

For 1, just three copies of the layer. Two of which are rotated and masks.

The view menu. Right between Animation and Window.
    View>Show Layer Controls.

Also done by pressing Ctrl+Shift+H (or CMD+Shift+H on Mac).

    I second Walter.
My freelance work is done on both Mac and PC. PC’s in my home studio, MacBooks for the road and I share files between the two OSs all the time. No issues.
