Ignore the fact that the footage was captured with a drone. How the footage was shot is fairly irrelevant; you need to track the camera. What 3d software do you plan to use? Do you have Element 3d, a full version of Cinema 4D, the Lite version of C4D? Etc.

You could use the Difference Matte effect. The problem is, unless the video was shot with a very high-end camera that captures relatively uncompressed (that is, not an MP4 or any other H.264 or MPEG compression flavor), you’re going to have differences in color where you don’t want them due to the compression and noise in your footage.

[Micah Derksen] “How do I do a light wrap?”
Lots of resources out there. See this: https://www.google.com/search?q=light+wrap+after+effects
This tutorial here at the COW would probably be a great place to start: https://library.creativecow.net/devis_andrew/AE_Lite-Bite_Light-Wrap-Effect/1

Since your background is being created in 3d software, I’d recommend trying to get the lighting on the background to match a bit more closely to the people if you can.

Definitely look at the white parts and black parts of both images. The people don’t go nearly as dark as the background does, so either crush the blacks a bit on the people or soften the darks on the background. Also, the BG is very blue, the people should have a bit of a blue tint as well.

For the others who are part of this thread or who will stumble across it in the future, this is the link to file feature requests with Adobe: https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

The more votes something gets, the more likely it will get done.

Todd no longer works for Adobe, so he’s not going to be able to explain why nothing happened with Set Matte, but the upgrade for it still isn’t here and it doesn’t look to be coming in the next version either, so FILE THOSE REQUESTS, Y’ALL!

  • It looks sharp on the edges. My guess is that you’ve got depth of field turned on and the front of the globe isn’t in focus.

Bezier Warp can do this too.

[Marina Plotzki] “isn´t it strange then, that when I turn it into a 3D Layer, the lights DO work..?”

No. In that case, Element isn’t rendering the lights, it’s just AE doing what it normally does to an AE 3d layer. The Element effect itself isn’t doing anything with the lights.

September 27, 2016 at 3:21 pm in reply to: Trapcode Particular – 3D Enviorment

Look in the Trapcode Particular help file for information on the Physics parameters – specifically, the Bounce options (as opposed to the Air options).

You would camera track your scene, use the camera tracking tools in AE to make solids (or nulls) in appropriate places. You’d then add the solids you would want Particular to interact with based off of those (usually requires a bit of tweaking to get right).

You could use use the Physics>Bounce in Particular to get the arms to move the beans, but they won’t stay in the grinder…

This may be beyond AE’s abilities.

This would be fairly simple to do in Cinema 4D Studio (or whatever versions have the rigid body physics).
