Ha. Humor appreciated. We’re struggling to shift a project from FCP7 to Avid. The EDL doesn’t seem to work. From what I’m reading about Automatic Duck, I think it could help. Any way to get ahold of a legacy version? You had mentioned you had one in a previous post. Thanks!

    Hi Nick and Dan,

We are trying to export an EDL from FCP7 for an Avid editor. Automatic Duck Pro Export looks like the right solution but we can’t find it for FCP7.

Could you point us in the right direction?

  • As a follow up, I tried changing the codec to ProRes 422 instead of 444 and it rendered correctly. I know I can’t render at 2K till I upgrade to the full version. Is this another intended limitation?

    Thanks in advance.

    Keith,

Last year you had a problem with Resolve rendering out files that did not have your grades on them, even though you were watching it render with what appeared to be the correct grades.

    You said:
“It was user error, which Dwaine worked out when testing my project. had accidentally set the LUT to display rather than output.”

I’m having the exact same problem. How did you change the LUT?

Thanks for the quick reply. I had hoped that the 2/3″ primes would achieve a shallow DOF. They are rated at something like T1.4.

    Any other reports?

We’ve been importing on a separate machine running FCP 5.1.4. We have yet to get P2 media to import properly in FCP 6. Will post if we come across a solution…

    Gentlemen,

I was happily importing P2 footage in FCP 5 yesterday. This morning I upgraded to FCP 6. After a brief panic, I found the “Log and Transfer” window. I can see all my P2 folders and can preview them in the Log and Transfer window. But when I add them to the que I get an error message and a red exclamation point and the import stops.

I can work with any footage I had previosly imported (prior to upgrading to FCP 6). This indicates to me that FCP 6 is reading all the DVCPRO codecs just fine. But I can’t import anything new.

Is this a major bug in FCP 6? Has anyone successly imported P2 footage in FCP 6?

Does anyone have the link for updating drivers for G4 powerbooks and P2 stores for the 16GB P2 cards? All I’ve found are camera driver links…

May 25, 2007 at 6:14 pm in reply to: P2 spanned clip

The clip plays normally but there is periodic noise in the image. It seems to vary in how often and how much. The noise is evident as small squares of various colors that appear in different places on the image.

It is my hope that I am doing something wrong with the import process or that I have some setting wrong. That would mean that once I figure it out, I could hope to get a clean image.

Thanks for that info, Ben. I’m still in search of an explanation for these apparent drop-outs. I’m going ahead with my edit, hoping that someone sees this and can give me some ideas of what I could do to prevent it/repair it.

Is it possible for a P2 card to “go bad”? We were working with a couple different cards. Maybe the presence of spanning is just a coincidence?
