  • New 16GB P2 cards will not mount on Powerbook

Hi fellow moo-ers, (Sorry about eating some of our kin yesterday)

I just purchased some new 16 GB cards and they do not mount when I insert them into my 17″ powerbook. The 8 gig cards were buggy but they always mounted within 3-4 trys. But I tried for over an hour last night to get the new 16 giggers to mount and no luck. Is there an update available? I couldn’t find one online.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry can’t give powerbook specs it is out on a shoot.

    Happy 5th of July.

Search down the archives of this forum a bit, you need to download a drive. It goes without saying you need the latest version of the OS, etc.

[Noah Kadner] ” you need to download a drive. It”

For clarification, you need to download a DRIVER. You need the latest driver for your computer. All P2 devices need a driver update to work with the 16GB cards, so that includes your computer, your P2 Store, your camera, your PCD20, or anything that interfaces with a P2 card.

Ha ha- yes. It would be cool if you could actually download a drive though…

Interestingly, a gentleman over at dvxuser.com says that no driver is needed to mount the cam in the Firewire mode on Intel Macs.

He claims it works without a driver for Intel Macs.

Does anyone have the link for updating drivers for G4 powerbooks and P2 stores for the 16GB P2 cards? All I’ve found are camera driver links…

    Sure. Go to:

    https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/desk/e/download.htm

I’m glad to see that they redesigned the site and it’s now quite clearer than a month ago, when I was bitten by the same problem and spent an afternoon lost in their website…
