Yep very interesting and as you say could potentially put a cat among pigeons.
My one qualm over the paper (and elsewhere) is that it doesn’t make crystal clear that libraries need to reside on a fast drive. Render files still live inside the event folder so need to live on a fast drive otherwise performance will suffer.
Whilst I think the new structure is in someways better I would still like a way of keeping render files outside the event folder. But hey Still better than most. That said I thought the previous layout would work amazingly in a news bureaux.

Theres a lot of talk about 10.1 being built from the ground up, so 10.1 is a bit more of a functional release. They would have had to rewrite a lot of the basic code to allow the change to libraries, which for me a a big step forward – and from what I understand will make sharing projects and media (especially in an environment such as yours) much easier.. Also like they fact that backups is right there as well.
And I like Snapshots – already used that one a few times.

Well said Shane! News isn’t about how flexible – its about the stories you find and the resources you have in the field.

Ahhh RAW.. sorry, missed the RAW bit – 4K XAVC is through the plugin.

I’m pretty sure you just download the plugin from Sony or use their Content Browser s/w..
I know HD XAVC works perfectly in X but haven’t tried 4K yet. There were reports about green flashes on the import but that was supposedly fixed in 10.0.9

December 8, 2013 at 10:42 am in reply to: Issue with Resolve not reading multi-cam clipsJust tried this with FCP X 10.0.9 and Resolve 10.1 Lite. If you export a multi cam sequence from the timeline it sends weird time codes and black holes.. So you end up with a mess in the resolve timeline.
As I say I’ve flagged this with Apple and BM but worth doing again.

December 8, 2013 at 10:29 am in reply to: Issue with Resolve not reading multi-cam clipsI’ve flagged this with both Apple and Blackmagic – it’s one of the reasons I’m annoyed there’s no batch multicam facility.

I’ve noted some very odd behaviour if you have the following situation, which is what I suspect your doing?
If you have a number of shots, each with multiple angles and you select all the clips and the make one big multiclip and then send that to resolve it can go very weird.
To get round this you need to select each shot individually and make individually multicams – it’s a pain but its the only way. Haven’t tried it with .9 and resolve ten yet but I will.

In the event viewer, select all the clips. Go to the Info box in the inspector – you might have to go to the extended view – and unstick Log C.
