Totally agree, I have a T2i and love it, but I would spend the couple hundred bucks extra for the 60D. The Screen, HD Video out, audio controls, dual dials make it a no brainer.

If fact I think I’m going to sell my T2i to get the 60D.

Most of the time using mix format cameras is not the best corse of action. Same cameras match easier then others, then some are such a mismatch that you end up spending a lot of time in post to match them or just live with shocking differences.

The clips have to match, dropping them into a sequence does nothing to fix this. FCP is just changing the sequence to match the first clip you drop on it.

Use compressor to convert the clips to matching settings.

I would use a 1280×720 ProRes, you also need to have the frame rate to match but hopefully you shot both camera on the same frame rate.

There is a setting that you can uncheck and it will not give you this warning, as long as you are not printing to tape there is no real issue if you drop a frame.

Normally RT should be set to Unlimited. But what are video rate and quality set to? Dynamic on video and full on frame rate is what I have it set on most of the time. Dynamic/Dynamic it also good, then I do Full video and dynamic frame when color correcting.

But the real question is, does your sequence match your clips exactly?

1080p even with ProRes is pushing the limits of FW800 but with the above settings you should be ok.

H264 should NEVER be in the DVD workflow, NEVER!.

I’m not a bitvice fan, while it does a good job, it seems like I run into pixelation problems a lot more then with compressor.

I would keep this simple.

From FCP, send the sequence to Compressor (Send to Compressor command)
Start with any DVD Prest
In the Encoder Button
In Video Format
Frame Rate: <29.97>
Aspect <16:9>
Field Dominance: Upper

In Quality Tab – change the encoding method to CBR and
Bit rate to 7.5

In the Frame Control Button
Frame Control
Resize Filter:

Encode the audio to ac3.

If you are capturing DV, you may get away with hooking a drive up via USB. Not recommended but it can work for DV.

Try another drive. Hooking up the camera to a drive is not recommended either but it can work.

Do you have the 17″ (which is really the only Pro laptop left) if you do you can get a eSata or FW800 card for other ports.

I think what we all would love is a way to turn off all the info and record lights, that way the video would be recorded. But true HD out live is the 2nd best thing.

In the timeline, is there triangles touching at bottom of track 1 and top of track 2, this shows that the audio is stereo (if there). When you capture or log and transfer footage into FCP you can set audio to be either stereo or mono.
