Also there is no interlace recording to any DSLR as far as I know.

unless Canon updates the plugin, the 60D will not work without the plugin file being hacked (not the camera). This was super easy for the T2i (which is still not supported by canon) google T2i plugin hack, you should be able to figure out how to modify it for the 60D.

no it does not, which is the other half of the problem with DSLR audio.
syncing audio is super fast especially if you are able to record a clap or anything that produces a spike. If you have a ton of clips there is software that will sync them for you (dualeyes). For a few clips you can normally sync them faster yourself.

I’m assuming that you are talking about Log and Transfer in FCP to ProRes.
That is my workflow, but that is the real issue for me, it is what workflow works better for you. THere is a bug with the Canon plug in and it is recommended that you do nothing else on the computer while the files are transferring in. Clip can get chopped if you do other things. But the fact that L&T puts TOD TC on the clips makes it the only way I do conversions. But the other ways are not wrong.

to me this post isn’t even clear if they want to do authoring. Or do they just want to burn movie files to a DVD.

Matte boxes serve a purpose, they are important beyond making you look more pro. They are also just part of a system, In most cases you need a rail system to mount them to. Then of course there are the filters.
But I cannot believe that people would use a DSLR camera on a shoot without discussing it with the client. If someone put off by a still camera my guess would be, they would be put off by a still camera with a matte box.
Like Darrell stated once the client saw the results they were sold, but they should be sold before the start of the shoot. Just show them examples and simple say, I’m going to use the camera I shoot this with. Just my 2 cents.

Stephen, you keep talking like format the card in the camera is an option. You should only format the card with the card. Cards should be reformatted often. This is true for still or video. You should not be formatting card on the computer.
Doing a low level format every now and again is a good practice also.

The HDMI is completely clean if you press the display button a couple of times but is 1080i 50i (on EU model, 60i on US model) until you hit record, then it goes to 1080p 24p but with a record symbol and a timer. (From Phil Bloom’s blog)
Definitely a step in the right direction, but I don’t know why these camera companies will not listen to what most of us want. (But Panasonic at least seems to be trying.)

Encode the video as 16:9 SD m2v. In DVDSP or whatever app you are using set the video track to 16:9 Letterbox. That is all you have to do.

These apps want the faster processor and more ram, don’t forget the graphic card plays a huge part in speed on these apps. If you are going to be doing a lot and are serious about motion graphic, seriously consider getting an 8 or 12 core Mac Pro. That is not to say that you cannot use these systems.
