    VG 10
    advantages
has a headphone jack for audio monitoring
    better hand held shots
longer recording time (but i won’t need this because im not going to be doing any scenes longer than a minute)

    d60
    advantages
    has manual audio controls
can shoot in 60i 60p 24p and 30p as appose to just 60i and 30p

side note:I’m only going to be recording and not taking stills. Also I’m probably going to use external audio since d60 doesn’t have headphones to monitor and VG 10 doesn’t have manual audio controls.

recommendations for external audio? i dont really know what to get. i am going to need something that records individual voices (i am going to be doing short films), like a shotgun mic

Better handheld- huh? You can easily get a shoulder mount for a DSLR camera not too mention record better audio with outboard gear. To me the advantage the VG10 has is much more video friendly ergonomics and video monitoring. It’s apples to oranges.

Also there is no interlace recording to any DSLR as far as I know.

It seems that the VG 10 is missing some key points, such as focus assist in video mode and in still mode no RAW shooting.
