I recommend recapturing or encode it but that depends on where it went your. The only way to catch this is to view it on a TV especially in FCP.

is the problem of the finished disc viewable on a computer or just a TV, it just a TV it is a field order issue. It should show up in FCP if you have a tube TV connected to it.

[David Telling] “I will have to “apply” an AJA codec” In the Kona workflow this is done on capture which you bypass with the P2 system. Unless there is a P2 reader that has HD-SDI out, then you “play” the clip and capture with the AJA DVCProHD codec.
But that being said I think you are fine with just importing your footage off the card. Was it is import there is no 24pN, just 24P (since everything is now true 24P in computer even if you shoot 24P over 30)

while this was a low budget project, everyone was paid fairly well, $600 and up 7 hour day. The low budget was no truck, no monitoring with a director.
One guy I worked with before and did a very good job, but I had a director for that he just fell apart for this one. The local guy I didn’t just talk to him several times and said he does concerts handheld all the time. Unfortunetly put this together in about 3 days for an out of town shoot. The 3rd guy all he had to do was focus a wide shoot that got zoomed in and out once durin the concert.
This was the perfect storm of video production. I’ll put it down as a learning experience.

For David, I did shoot with the 900’s in DVCPro50, and yes I plan to capture with that codec so Noah is right SDI offers no advantage and one huge disadvantage, not being able to remove the pulldown on capture. The reaason for asking is I have access to more SDI only decks but to do a software pulldown would mean tieing up a system for days, I have 15 hours of footage. So even if I have to rent an out of town deck with FW and ship it in it will be worth it.

I could find a rental deck when I needed it and when I went to a post house their deck was only SDI and I could figure out why the pulldown was not working, thanks for confirming the NO on SDI. Hopefull I can get a deck w/ FW to capture all my tapes. about 27 33-min tapes. Just want to find it locally so I can do it in a day. Low budget project, seems like I do too many of these. 🙂

B&H Photo has the camera for $3500 and then there is a $350 MIR. So you are just over $3K I would pay a couple of hundred more for an unused camera or if you buy used you need to be very careful I would buy from a used dealer with a good rep.

I did a 20 test before the concert, shot 24pa, capture video 29.97 with advanced pulldown, Put video on a 24P timeline, audio gave me a a stereo mixed down and we were golden, no drift!
BTW 99.9% of hollywood title DVDs are 24P. You need a progressive DVD player hooked up to a Digital TV (or computer) to view them at true 24P or else the player will add a pulldown so you can watch it on a normal TV at 29.97.

I did a 20 minute test and we were golden. Shoot the concert last night start editing the first of the week.
