as with everything there are pros and cons to it. It is coming alone very nicely and becoming more stable.

If I’m handle a project from recording to mastering the norm is the client owns all the raw footage and gets a master(s) of the final edit. All the project files such as the FCP, AE, Livetype etc. are mine and they would have to pay extra for them. But the only time I was ever asked for them was by a client I was glad to never work with again and just gave it to them.
But if I hire a freelance editor or graphics person I normally get the project files from them if they do the work off site, but this is known by them at the start of the job.

What version of FCP are you using. 5.1.2 greatly approves P2 import.
I had problems with files on the Firestore, I was able to get some of them with P2 Log from https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/919223?
the demo is fully functional but you can only import that first clip.

I just bought one off of ebay for that prupose, I master HD timelines to DBeta offsite and I have been lugging my G5 quad with a Kona3 card in it to another site. I now plan to let the Kona3 down convert to my laptop with the Io and then just take my laptop across town.
Bart is there any software that can turn my laptop into a virtual deck or are people just doing a capture now in FCP?

Don’t know anyone at AJA but it is one 1st rate company! Cannot say enough about how pleased I have been with their products and service.

All major electronic stores have 30 day return policy, I would test out a what you think will work. Most new TVs with not have DVI any more but HMDI but you can get an adapter cable (order online or get at Sams the are amost $100 at BestBuy and $20 online)
Really consider the apple 23″ for your small suite, it will be cheap then most TVs and it is true Pixel for pixel HD. plus you have a second monitor for other apps.

I have Apple’s 30″ and 23″ as asetup, I put a stand under my 23″ so the tops line up. This is really a personal thing.
You will probably pay more for a monitor that rotates, I had a b&w Radius monitor years ago (MacII ci days) and love it for desktop publishing.
One thing to watch out for is lower priced monitors don’t have the pixel count so things are really big on screen. You will notice that a Samsung 22″ and 20″ widescreen with have the same resolution so you get no more image on the 22″ everything is just bigger. (BTW – the 20″ is $299 at Sam’s and is a great monitor for the price, I believe it has both DVI and VGA inputs also)
but as for setting them up there is nothing to it as long as your video card supports to and other than other iMac and minis there have been for years starting with G3’s.

Make sure you are not choosing RAW since that would display 1280×1080 (for 1080i) and it looks squeezed, because it is. When viewing setting are set up correctly there will be black bars on top and bottom like a light letterboxing. The monitor is 1920×1200 so there has to be some black since the video displayed is 1920×1080.
But when viewing 720p fullscreen you are uprezing the pixels and it is sometimes better to see this in RAW and let the image float on the screen. This way you are viewing pixel for pixel.
