I say we make it official and go with.

Seems like 6.0.1 fixed the problem. One down about 24,000 to go!

We use roll tape in mobile trucks, but then again we probably say a lot of things that are not right.

How about “push the red button” or better yet, “ENGAGE”

    Walter,

Sorry, I posted in other threads but I cannot get multi-cam viewing to work right. 7 DVCPorHD streams plays back about 1-2 frames per second. No matter how the I set the quality settings it doesn’t playback correctly. Also the analog component out doesn’t have the same quality.

I have projects that were started in 5.1.4 so I can reboot to 5.1.4 and multi-cam and monitoring is just fine. Same files, same system.

June 29, 2007 at 1:08 pm in reply to: SATA card for MacPro

I have a 10-bay connected to 2 ports and then single drives to 2 other ports. When this is connected the finder can do to a crawl, drive read/write problems. Sometimes the drives do not show up on restart. I have tried different drive scenarios and always problems.

It maybe a bad card but the support is the worse, as with most people it is hard to go down for any length of time. But since I can normally get it to work with just the 10-drive/2 ports I make due. Sonnet doesn’t seem want to look at it, this card has been in 3 system all the same problem. So I just want to replace it but not with another Sonnet card.

In my option the firestore is a rough way to go for handheld, the firewire connectors prove to be very problematic to say the least.

If you get the firestore make sure you read all the instructions and FAQs, it is not difficult but their are a couple of serious “gothas” that can screw you.

To record HD all you need is either P2 cards or a Firestore FS 100 720P@24P gives you 40 minutes on a single 16 GB card. Firestore offers great record lengths but caution needs to be used if you go with the firestore. To transfer footage to your computer you need nothing else. It becomes a workflow issue, there is no wear and tear on the camera if used since there are no moving parts. In the field if you need to be dumping cards and reusing them then you need something else or if you just never want to tie up the camera for this.

Old Mac Powerbooks have a slot for the card, newer MacBookPros you need an adapter. Panasonic makes P2 “decks” but they are pretty expensive. Hope this is a good start.

If you post your normal shot scenario it would be able to give better advice.

Most graphic programs like Motion, AE and Combustion use the GPU intensively so if they are a big part of your workflow it probably be worth it.

$500 upgrade also includes a slightly faster processor and a little bigger HD. All add a little more value.

I’m having real issues with Kona3 and FCP6 on a MacPro.

Jeremy – the file is fine, I’m sure the adv features can make it better but that is not the issue that I’m posting here.

Steve, I have a SD TV (using the analog component from the Kona 3) and a Apple 23″ LCD (SDI to DVI) so I can set it to actual pixels only. Both look bad.
