Well if you are placing clips on a timeline and exporting them, the exported clips take on the TC of the sequence and no longer the clips. (this would be fine if you make the seq. TC match the clips but that takes effort and you can normally only use one clip on each seq.)

In the end it didn’t work, there must be something wrong with my laptop. Video kept glitching and all sort of weird things going on.
I did a reinstall of the OS and I will test it again when I get the SR deck to capture all the tapes. But to be safe I think I may use the Kona3 for all the capture.

I would get a TC generator and a Black burst generator and just hook up the Audio record, IoHD and the switcher. Set everything to except EXT TC. This should lock your Audio and Program Video. Of course your ISO records on the cameras with not match. Even if you jam the cameras together via FW they won’t match up if you ever change the battery or turn the camera off.

What cameras are you using? Normally in a true multicam setup I’m sending TC from an outside TC generator to everything, Audio record, record decks (in your case it would be the IoHD) and to all the cameras if they are recording. I also send Black Burst ref to all from a BBG. If you don’t have everything locked to the same TC it will make setting up the multicam less than idea. It can be done but locked TC makes it a click of the mouse.

It always takes longer to encode when exporting from the sequence to Compressor (But I think you get better results).
Also there are a lot of settings that give you a better result but takes longer to encode. If you are not trying to jam a bunch of videos onto a DVD and you can have a high bitrate at or above 6 Mbps I would recommend trying CBR encoding it should cut encoding time in at least half and I bet it will even look better.

I don’t have PPro3 so I’m just throwing this out. ProRes should be able to be played in anything that can handle QT once the codec is installed. Installing FCP6 installs the codec.

Jeremy, once again, thanks for your insight, I don’t think I tried that combo, I will when I get the studio tomorrow.

I did have the pref set to deck but I don’t have LTC connected, the studio is telling me that they cannot patch a straight BNC from deck to IoHD.
So to confirm what will NOT work.
-Capturing w/ TC in FCP when the deck is in REC Pause and VTR set to local.
– AJA VTR exchange, TC is not available via RS422.
Then follow up question, “embedded” LTC, do you mean within the SDI stream? or LTC out from deck to LTC in from deck.
