    Hi there.

I have a 2008 mac pro, 8 core, 6 gig ram.. and I am compressing a 22.5 minute HDV Apple Pro Res HQ project to DVD Best Settings…. the time it take is usually between 3 – 4 hours… is this normal or could I have a setting wrong somewhere? I export directly to compressor from FCP.

    Thank you

    Conan

It always takes longer to encode when exporting from the sequence to Compressor (But I think you get better results).

Also there are a lot of settings that give you a better result but takes longer to encode. If you are not trying to jam a bunch of videos onto a DVD and you can have a high bitrate at or above 6 Mbps I would recommend trying CBR encoding it should cut encoding time in at least half and I bet it will even look better.
