There this is the problem with rental decks, one they are hard to learn the ins and outs in a short amount of time you have them and the manuals are not that straight forward, took me a while to figure out how to set the SD out to 16:9.
The Kona outs were dead on, deck meters were -20 with tone coming in. the problem when the audio people were monitoring audio out from the deck to their pro tools systems, there was always a 1.3/1.5dB boost in the levels. On deck playback the meters did seem to be going over -3dB (where the program peak was set.
We sent a QC tape off in the beginning and it passed so this may have to much to-do about nothing. So the deck is going back to the rental house without much chance of finding if or where the problem was. Thanks for you help.
When you go through these things it makes that $300/hr charge for HD layoffs worth every penny of it. Give a hard drive to service bureau and let them do there thing.

The card should also add the needed pulldown. I have a AJA Kona card but the settings should be the same. In FCP output settings should be 1080 29.97 with the card’s downconvert set to 525 29.97 Letterbox. This adds the extra fields/frames to get the frame rate to 29.97 and down converts. When printing to tape the result should also be viewed with a CRT TV to make sure there are no field order issues.

the problem seems to be something with the deck, the boost in levels does not seem to be when the embedded or AES is monitored but is there when they monitor the deck’s AES via XLR or BNC. We get the same boost when feeding to the deck and playing back recorded audio.

You have posted this in an old forum which means most people will never see this. It is also not good form to jump in on someone elses thread like this even if it was active. Better to start a new post. I see that this is your first post so all is forgiven 🙂
Now to your post it is not clear what you are asking. Are you needing to price up all the creative on this project, the performance, video production and post production all the way through DVD authoring. Please list the parts you would be involved with and your experience in doing so. I would do that is a new Post also.

If you are trying to rework the actual DVD title, not reauthor from scratch with ripped assets, you need a program like DVDAfterEdit. But this is not cheap and the learning curve is steep but you can fix the project and in the end you have a new VideoTS folder.
If you are not wanting to get into the spec level of things this program is not for you.

I believe you mean, when a selection is activated (enter is pressed to execute the jump)…
this is a dvd Non-seamless issue, this will also happen at the loop point.

I had something similar but it does not deal with pulldown but it you enter the TRT as Non drop 29.97 and change it to DF it will be within 6 frames.

Thanks Dave, I was kind of thinking that but I tried to nest the seq and it would not do that but we have an export of the program in one piece and when I dropped that into the 29.97 seq I got the new TRT.

I only have 2 GB in my MBP but have used the Duel a bunch, even had a multicam shoot with 5 systems going (MBP with Duel in each) with no problems. I will say that I have had an adapter go bad but it was exchanged for a new one under warranty.
I thought there was no driver for the Duel under OS 10.5, or are you saying that there is but it is already installed with 10.5 itself?
