As I stated, if you make your disc a HD DVD is will not play on anything but Intel Macs or the fastest of G5 towers. You can downconvert HD material to SD m2v and you will be jsut fine with a SD DVD.
Once again HD DVD are for new Mac playback only! They will playback on discontinued HD DVD players if they had firmware updates done to them. This is a DEAD format, do not use it, if you are giving disc to others.

There is a firmware update you may need to install on the camera via an SD card. I don’t have the link but you can find it at panasonic.com

One thing that is cropping up a lot lately is people making HD DVD by mistake. Are your disc playing on any set top player?
Define “Cannot Play” This can mean playback issues or player not reading the disc at all.
Are you burning within DVDSP or another program.
To things that increase playability is to do a Build and Format verse a Burn. And always uncheck that lossless link box in the format screen.

I think he is timing from the time the start gun goes off, to the time the runner breaks the ribbon at the end of the run, and not the duration of the clip. The question I would ask is the stopwatch just in a guys hand and he is starting and stopping it? If so could he not be late on the start and early on the finishes? Or is this timing gear that is set up big track events?

DV I/O to camera or FCP.
Camera in VTR mode, not on THumbnail mode > play clip on the FS hit Red REcord and Gray button on by the handle.
FCP Log and Capture > play clip on FS hit Capture Now in FCP.

Total graphic, like a menu, not going to be integrated with any video, I would probably use 720p, easier on the system there probably would be a noticeable difference when downconverted to SD. It would cross-convert to 1080i okay if you need to put it with your footage down the road. But there is not a real right or wrong answer here.

Whatever your footage is, keep it at that, including progressive or interlace.

Are you talking BluRay DVD? SD DVD? What is your source material?

Did you keep the entire CONTENT folder structure in tact. the xml are just points to the actual footage and audio,
