but there are several different ways to do it, but without knowing the shooting scenario it doesn’t make much sense to suggest how to handle the data. I know in Nashville I can round up several dual adapters and laptops easier than I can get one of the 5 card readers. I have been on jobs that were one hour of shooting and 2 hours of waiting. Each job requires a different way of handling data offload.But my main point is if you don’t have experience with the workflow, (not point at you but, Greg) it is wise to hire someone that does. Every easy to erase the wrong card.
DIT are one of those positions that most people think are a waste of money, until something does wrong.

All chapter markers are I-frames (compression markers) so there has to be a safety spacing of these i-frames. This is so DVDSP stays within DVD spec for the GOP structure.
But this would be classified in the “Why the hell would you even want that.” Who would want to next chapter through less than one second clips. Just so you know there is also a 99 chapter limit so at 1 sec apart you will hit that limit within 2 seconds. Some times you need to tell a client, nothing can be done to make this work nor should you even do this if you could.

I don’t know of anything that would do this automatically. This is not a hard thing to do manually, you are just replacing assets. We need to keep something for us humans to do.

Matt, It is all over the place with what comes with cameras on rentals. A lot of times base prices have (2) 16 GB cards. My point was it shouldn’t be much more than a FireStore which is typically about $100/day.
Greg, you will need either the cards or a firestore for each camera. Also you really need to hire a DIT to handle your media. They can be transferring one set of cards as the others are being shot. They should be able to help you determine how many cards you need. P2 workflow is pretty solid once you understand it. Doing into a situation without a firm understanding of it is really dangerous.

Especially since it sounds like you do not use Firestores often. Unless someone on site is very comfortable with them I would stay away. (2) 64 GB cards should rent for about $150/day.
What cameras are you shooting?
Also Firestore are really for locked down cameras when used.

Yes, under no circumstance should DVD@ccess be used on a title that will be widely distributed. Abandon the idea.
Simple put a menu telling people that the pdfs are on the disc. Leave it at that.

Nope cannot be done any other way if you send them one at a time, in fact I cannot send multiple timelines to Compressor any more. This stopped for me when I upgraded to FCS2. What versions of FCP and Compressor are you using.

Once again, details need to be given.
How was this shot? This looks like pull down that you find on a DVX/HVX shot at 24p onto tape. If so this is a import, not an export problem.
I would be surprised if this is on the sequence footage in FCP but you are not using an external monitor and your canvas is NOT set to 100%, which would cause this problem to be hidden from you.
It may also be introduced when you are adding the speed changes to the clip, was again you need to be viewing your FCP timeline on an external monitor, only way to catch these things.
That being said, exporting a ref movie (or self contained movie) from FCP and then taking that into Compressor, gives you more control and in the end better quality.
You should also take the time to learn general terms of our industry, no crime in not knowing what “interlaced” means but our first response should be to look it up and not ask what it is.
