They are not asking for a playable DVD, they are asking for a movie file. Give them what they are asking for and don’t put it on a DVD, A DVD will always be 720×480.

NEVER master with an .img file. The safest way to do it is to write a DDP 2.0 file and then use anything that doesn’t go to an optical disc. The problem is with a DVD-R is the media itself, it is highly susceptible to scratching. These scratches may not cause a playback problem but will cause a mastering problem. Using Toast will not solve your problem.

Upload should be fine. The problem with writing to disc is that it can get scratched so easily. While these scratches are no problem for a playback disc (if minor) they are no longer good for a master.

The advancement of the integrated color was one of the things I was really excited about. I understand Apple’t thought behind all this stuff. It is so much better then what 3-way was. But I totally agree the way they implemented it just doesn’t make sense. As far as the controls all they did was give us something definitely and not as good. They also gave as 3 panels to work with whereas they could easily put all that on a single panel if they went with traditional color wheels and sliders. My biggest grip of FCP X is how real estate unfriendly the entire app is. It just doesn’t use the screen very well IMO, and this is most apparent with the color controls.

David, my point was to say, while we don’t know what all this means, we do know that there will be some support of their existing products, not just stuff for Adobe. The question would there be future development such as FCP X to PP that is definitely up in the air. But I think even if AD is totally Premiere I think you would still see PP from a lot of things and a lot of things to PP. The interesting thing for PP users is will we get this stuff built in (free) while say FCP X to Avid is for pay.
But the letter has to be the most cryptic one I have read in a long time, marketing team? working with?

In fact it clearly states that there will be on going work for other partners. “Harry Plate (my Dad and the co-Founder of Automatic Duck) will be assisting with the technology integration while continuing to focus on supporting other Automatic Duck partners.”

Sorry for not posting my final findings.
Adam, when the files were not corrupt, they where not well liked. The guy that set up the encoder was making everything 720×406 and some had 4 channels of audio. Premiere didn’t like this very much. I keep asking for normal video resolutions and not getting them. Finally after weeks of the home office calling Adobe and them trying all type of things, countless reinstalls, only a single sequence in a project, total workflow busters, they changed the resolution to 720×480 and all is fine. Rock solid.
While I still like FCP better, it would not work for this workflow at all, I have to say PP to Media Encoder is AWESOME! The smoothness of integration is get the start. The fact that there is no link between PP and Media Encoder once the file is received makes it so much more usable.
I just need to totally remap the keyboard to what I’m familiar with and it will be golden.

Just give up on the idea, it never worked right and it never was automatic.

You don’t just guess, you don’t just try different settings. You need to find a bitrate calc and it will tell you exactly what bitrate you need to use. I can a custom built one so I cannot point you to any that are out there but others have posted recommendations simply google it.
If you are having your program do the encoding it may never reset, I don’t use DVDA so I cannot say for sure. It is always best to encode your video outside the program, do you have Adobe Media Encoder? or I’m sure that Sony’s package comes with something to use.
