All Canon DSLR will stop every 12 minutes so there is no way to capture the entire event with a single camera. It is also more than just renting an extra camera you need an operator also.

If you are recording sound to another device, which you really need to be, you can hide the starts and stops with b-roll.

Remember there is no saying cut and resetting the scene. Weddings are one of the hardest things to deal with. If the client wants the full ceremony you probably want 3 cameras with operators. If it is more of a montage you can get away with one camera if you are good and fast.

If you take the job good luck.

December 5, 2011 at 1:19 am in reply to: what software can do this? Because DVDSP cannot

It is not that DVDSP cannot do this but DVDs cannot do this. This is NOT a DVD.

Do the client want this to be able to be played on a Mac or a DVD set top?

But you will find that even Windows with Windows 7 doesn’t just auto play, a lot of systems are set to ask before opening.

What bugs. DVDSP is one of the most solid authoring tools out there. There as no full spec apps on a mac but most people are not willing to learn them anyway. While DVDSP method has some draw back with navigation speeds you can do 99% of what is normally required by 99% of the people using it. For most there is no need for anything else. Most people are limited by their knowledge and not by the app.

Bitwise has nothing to do with anything in this conversation., neither does Toast.

And they only play automatically because that is the way a computer is set up. In a Mac or PC a user can set a DVD or CD to do NOTHING. While most people on a Mac don’t change the default, you can if you want to and then the dvd will just sit there. On newer PCs the default is normally to ask what to do, which gives you the choice to always do that.

Autoplay is the same as autorun. The problem is the computer own can have it turned off. There is no way to bypass this.

DVD is a locked format, nothing will ever be updated or changed.

DVDSP is by far the best full featured authoring app on the Mac. It only comes in Final Cut Studio, you can still get version 3/2009 from Apple. All the software is EOL as far as development is concerned.

The other full featured authoring program is Encore, which comes with Premiere Pro. Some people love it some people don’t but you can author with it. It also does entry level BluRay authoring.

They pretty much it for authoring on a Mac.

BTW – all menus should be created outside of the authoring app it you want professional results.

there are no firmware updates to DVD players, that is pretty much a bluRay thing.

[Mike Schmitz] “wouldn’t let me see what options were selected”
What does that mean? It does not jump? The overlays don’t work?
