Wow you are all over the place. Can you slow down and repost this in clear manner. Take screen captures of all the setting you are doing.
I have never heard compressor do anything close to what you are describing. I have heard bad things when people start changing the dialog normalization way do, are you sure you have it at -31?

How would an engineer know what type of TV someone is going to hook a DVD up to? The first that a person has to do with and DVD player is set it up according to the TV they have. If they have a 16:9 TV they also have set the TV to how they want 4:3 video to look. If they are too lazy or to dumb to do that let them watch whatever they get. It is not an engineers fault, nor a DVD manufacturers fault. It is the viewers.

John, keep is simple. The key is to use 2 step encoding in the making of the m2vs. While Bitvice might be better in some cases Compressor is not a bad piece of software, it does suffer when you need to get the bitrate down below 4.5. But you have it and it does work.
First if you are working with HD movie you need to downscale it before you make the m2v. Then take the new SD movie back into Compressor and make the m2v. Make sure you get a bitrate calculator so you can make the most out of the encode. If you can use 6Mbps or above use CBR method of encoding verse VBR. ALways use ac3 for the audio. Which is why you should encode outside of DVDSP. Uncompressed audio is a waste of bitrate and can cause playback issues.

You cannot just buy DVDSP, you have to buy Final Cut Studio, which is $1000 and it only runs on a Mac. Is this a lower end version of the Sonic? I believer there are different levels. What type of system are you using, Mac or PC?

Sorry, I’m updated my reply (probably after you read it) I didn’t notice you were talking about a Sonic app. I don’t use that so I cannot be of much help.

That makes no sense to me.But if you want to jump to a certain menu using a remote from one menu to another menu that is not what menu on the remote is for. If you want to go to a different menu from a video that can be done, I just don’t know how to do it with your app.

Each track can have the remote “menu” jump to whatever menu you want. Highlight the video track, then set menu 2 in the inspector under Remote Control: Menu drop down.
Sorry didn’t see the Sonic in the title, my answer is for DVDSP.

Why I think MacPros need Thunderbolt. (especially if you use a MBP)
#1 – Pegasus enclosures. I maybe wrong, is there anything else on the market that give 12TB with Raid 5 @ ~800MBps speed for 2 grand. (I have not priced SAS in a while so they maybe getting close.
#2 When (if) more small-fast TB drives come out and used on the field you will need TB on your desktop system.
#3 New Apple monitors, which also give you another hub, but the hub is not that big of a deal for MacPro.
#4 Ability to use one video device on desktop or Laptop.
#5 It will give Apple an open door to reduce the PCI slots and form factor in MacPros. (this is an opinion)
I think TB is a given, it is a good thing and if they can put it into a MacMini it not hard to roll it into a MacPro price wise but I agree it is a much bigger deal for the MBP and iMac products.
