Not an answer to your question but if you have footage you need to fix, take a look at this plug-in

I would call Canon and get an estimate on replacing the sensor, not much else you can do. Check to see if there are any authorized repair centers in your area.

First, NEVER do something for the first time on a paying gig.
Are you talking about the Technicolor setting? if so there is a LUT that you load into the footage (need LUT Buddy by Redgiant) this gets you close. Then you do the finishing touches.
WIthout seeing your footage it is hard to say other than lowering the blacks, raising the highlights to get the contrast back. You normally add back the saturation. But for color that depends on how well it was shot, is is white balanced correctly?
This is a commitment to heavy grading operation and better done with Color or Colorista. 3-Way is great for light grading but can fall apart quickly.

I would stay shorter than 3′ unless you have a really beefy tripod.

Why don’t you just buy a new drive. you can get external drives for under $100.

A menu jump always causes a freeze and different players handle this better than others. They all normally do better with progressive assets. Do retails DVDs have similar problems (just to a lesser degree)?

There is so much missing info here.
What aspect is the video? How was it set in the authoring? What type of TV does the client have? What is his DVD player set on?

Add to the not right category, if your DVD is played in a computer it will not auto jump to your “pop up” menu, the user clicks the button, then it jumps to the pop up menu when the user thinks they selected what the button says.
While you can say, it can be done, it is a horrible user experience all the way around. It SHOULD NOT be done.

IF your disc play in computers and sd dvd players I would say it is the blu ray player. I know a PS3 has played back my dual layer disc. For compatibility DL disc should be DVD DL +R (and not -R) type.
