  • what software can do this? Because DVDSP cannot

I have this very basic request from a client: He wants a dvd rom that autoruns and starts with a menu with a background music with 3 choices (three buttons). I thought: Easy, I can do that with DVDSP right?
But actually he wants for choice number one an avi file that is supposed to open in any player available on the computer, choice two is a sound file that is supposed to open in any sound player available on the computer, choice three is a pdf file that is supposed to open with adobe acrobat when ever you click on it, It sounds simple but yet DVDSP is not the software for achieving this. Adobe director is too complex for me, more a programmer software, isn’t there a more simpler software available to achieve this? Thanks in advance for guiding me.

The ‘AVI’ leads me to think that your client is targeting Windows based computers. Sounds like you are developing with a Mac. If you happen to have a Windows PC, you could easily create this with Indigo Rose’s ‘Autoplay Menu Studio’.

Yes I work on a Mac but it can become a PC anytime, as you know… Thanks for the tip a lot ; )

It is not that DVDSP cannot do this but DVDs cannot do this. This is NOT a DVD.

Do the client want this to be able to be played on a Mac or a DVD set top?

But you will find that even Windows with Windows 7 doesn’t just auto play, a lot of systems are set to ask before opening.

Your answer makes sense, originally this job was posted as “DVD” formatting, actually the guy wants a CD ROM hence all the confusion. I learned something anyway. Thanks for getting things straight.
