I will add one piece of advice. Do not take brochures at the show, your suitcase will be overweight and you will just be tossing it all out at the airport.

In this day and age with should have an app to send pdfs to our tablets and smart phones.

  • That is a standard aspect ratio, you are just turning the TV on its side. Of course you have to design your elements to be correct when the display is rotated.

DVD is not HD so you cannot deliver on a DVD, You need to use a BluRay or a H.264 file.

There is nothing to do, there is no “zoom in” setting, 10% is action safe. You should except and be okay if that is cut off.

You need to explain what you mean by “cropped” all sides? how much? Then how is you Ps3 or other DVD players set up to handle the upscaling.

If you are keeping the footage 16:9 through out the process there is nothing less to do.

I have never made a master in Toast and I’m not saying that it will not work. You can make a DDP 2.0 file within DVDSP. You can burn that to DVD-R or even better write it to a thumb drive.

This will not make a playable DVD but it contains your complete DVD project.

  • Well you can export burned in TC in every NLE. I’m asking windows users if they know of any cheap software that has a good job and shuttle control and shows the clips time code.

  • there are no bumps on the cow, the post stay put.

The question is one only you can answer. Do that range work for you. On your camera it basically a 38-112 mm. If you need a real wide lens it may not work. There are no “Must have lens” there are “right lenses for the right” job lenses and lenses that give you a range that is useful for you.

FYI – Apple presets are horrible. They are way too high on the max and too big of a spread. 2 pass VBR takes longer but gives you a more acturate file size. Set the average to 3.8 and the to 6Mbps. Make sure you encode the audio to ac3 at .192Mbps.

[eric pautsch] “Be silly to author a DVD-A since nobody owns a player.”

I’ve got one. It is in a pile of stuff I no longer have hocked up. 🙂

  • Well, if it is for personal use of your own DVD it is equivalent to making a mixed tape. You cannot distribute (give) copies away.

Cinematize has a nice feature that rips chapters very cleanly. Others have in and out points that you can set.
