The P2 card already exists with other Panasonic cameras and is supported with v.5.1 of Xpress Pro and Adrenaline 2.1 as I mentioned. It is being used in news and in quick turnaround type programming.
Support for the HVX200 camera cannot happen until the camera ships, but the technology is only a transport medium and has nothing to do with the camera or the format that sits on the disc.
As far as success of DVCPRO capture over FireWire, I can only say that the supported laptops when tested in house can capture directly from FireWire. Playback and editing performance may vary depending on speed of drive, the number of video tracks etc, but this is different that a single capture stream.

All this is possible and most feature films (as well as most film based television)still work at true 24fps rather than 23.976. All of this works, it is a matter of looking at the entire workflow from beginning to end to see what best fits. So you are in a 30i NTSC project (29.97fps)working on a Media Composer (Meridien/Adrenaline)(Mac/Win?) and using version ?
You are working with DV sources that were captured into Media Composer as:
DV 25?
Uncompressed?
Other?You are monitoring the timeline to a client monitor using:
Composite?
S-Video?
Composite?

I don’t have a Mac version in front of me, but while bin is in text view, go to “edit” and select font from menu and see what happens.

Yes, Avid Xpress Pro allows for both SD and HD. It was a brand change to indicate that Xpess Pro can also do HD. There are lots of SD features in Xpress Pro HD including 4 real time playback streams for multicamera, DV50, as well as HD support for DVCPRO 100, etc.

The recommeded laptop for Xpress Pro 5.1 will support direct FireWire capture of DVCPRO 100. The 5.1 release also supports editing directly off of P2 cards. It is the plan that all formats will be supported for the HVX200.

The two still need to be synced in order to provide a true frame rate to frame rate and more importantly “shutter to shutter” synchronization.
There is a system on the market that does a frame per frame grab with a rear screen projection method that looks pretty interesting and would give you a true frame accurate capture – similar to a scanner versus a telecine. It is a fairly low cost device (~$800 I believe). Let me snoop around and see if I can find the link.

Yikes! As with any file format, it is a matter of finding out if it is part of the export from Heavyworks causing the problem, or is it on the import side of things. Have you tried just a single clip as OMF2 to narrow it down?
