You have got to watch out for the 2 frame video delay to audio sync relationship that is part of he down conversion and 2″3 pulldown insertion (one frame for each process) if these are sync dailies. In the capture tool window, there is a menu for audio delay, set it to two frames.
The NTSC down convert will always be 30fps NDF, and that is how the capture will happen. Make sure you set your Film/24p settings to “A” frame relationship for 00:00:00:00 and Cadence is set to NORM.
Once captured, you highlight the entire START timecode column and do a ctrl-D (duplicate) and select TC 24 from the list that pops up. This will convert the 30fps back to 24 reversing the same process that went from 24 to 30 during the down conversion.
You can specify anamorphic 16:9, letterbox 16:9, or 4:3 center crop for the down conversion, but you will want to do 16:9 anamorphic in order to have a pixel perfect conform of all effects, titles, etc.
