If you render the effect, then it won’t get wonky after the trial ends. It’s only an issue if you want to go back and change something. If you really want to be sure, export the shot as a QT/same as source and bring it back in. That way, the effect is bake in and won’t matter at all what happens to the plug-in license at that point. But there too, no more changes. I would suggest making several versions of the effect if you do that so you can always change your mind if needed.

You can feather the edges in the PIP effect, but actually creating something with a cloud shape needs to be done as a matte in a program like Photoshop first. Create matte and import into MC.
