    Hi

I’m new to AVID but somehow ended up being responsible for loading arri alexa material into avid media composer 3.0.

The material was transcoded for me from ProRes to mxf. I have placed the mxf files in the Avid MediaFiles in the subfolder (F:\Avid MediaFiles\MXF\17). But when I try to import the files in avid I get an out of range error (Exception: CM_OFFSET_OUT_OF_RANGE, offset: 1094226, range: 706).

AVID sees the media files (it was scanning them when i opened the program). I have tried using the Media Tool (but get the out of range error), I also made an ale list in MetaFuze (I could import the media files, but when I tried to relink I still got the out of range error).

I really hope you can help me, because I have no idea how to solve this problem.

Media Composer 3.0? That may be the problem. Are you sure you are not in 5.0?

Are you on a standalone station or on shared storage?

Mac or PC? Metafuze is PC Only, but that doesn’t mean you’re not cutting on a PC.

You say “The material was transcoded for me from ProRes to mxf. “, but you mention Metafuze later. Did you use metafuze to create the MXF files?

How were the MXF files made?

I’m working in 3.0 on a PC on a stand alone station. A guy from the camera rental place made the mxf’s from the ProRes. I don’t know how, but I assume he did it on a mac.

Earlier I tested the workflow (ProRes 4444 -> MetaFuze -> ALE -> AVID 3.0 -> relink) on a 2 sek alexa-file from the camera rental company and it worked.

I have the ProRes from the shoot and have also tried transcoding one of the files myself in MetaFuze with the exact same workflow as I used in the test, but I got the same error.

Why don’t you AMA directly to the ProRes clips and transcode within Media Composer? Also, what other metadata are you expecting from MetaCheater? The REEL name?
